Summary:

The Vice President is responsible for operational strategy, new center development through the initiation of operations, orchestrating growth strategies and program development to include new specialties and/or scope of services expansion, managing and renewing business contracts, and effectively governing Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC) and the Anesthesia Department.

Works closely with the managed care contracting team to obtain/maintain market-competitive reimbursement rates for current and new clinical services. The Vice President ensures the awareness of applicable clinical and administrative leaders regarding the split of cases between the ASC, hospital, and clinic, encouraging a place of service that supports quality care at the lowest total medical cost. Tracks overall utilization of each ASC location along with individual block utilization.

The role oversees administrative and clinical operations and performance improvement initiatives across all KSC ASC centers. Engaging the center leadership, plans, organizes, directs, and manages all center activities to achieve market performance targets and works toward continuous improvement.

Develops and maintains a strong partnership with physician leadership and Board Members. The Vice President maintains a close working relationship with the ASC Board Chair, SVP Service Lines, Associate Medical Director, and Finance in the development & operation of the ASC, along with management support for the Board & Medical Staff meetings, Quality, other committees to include identifying opportunities for investment in clinical equipment/services and or improved cost management to enhance the financial performance of the ASC. Actively supports the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives, placing quality care and patient satisfaction as core measures of the ASC’s success.

 

Salary Range: $250,000 – $260,000 (Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in management, healthcare management, finance, or accounting

Preferred:

Master’s degree in management, healthcare management, finance, or accounting

 

Experience:

Ten years of progressive leadership in a perioperative or procedural-oriented setting, including strategic planning, supply chain control, and development of Capital & Operating budgets, including pro forma evaluation and personnel management. Proven experience with improving processes/workflow, budgeting, and purchasing. Solid experience with establishing and utilizing KPI’s.

 

Preferred:

Multi-site Ambulatory surgical centers or hospital outpatient surgical centers have experience with a broad array of surgical specialty services, as well as anesthesia and endoscopy experience. Start-up of new Ambulatory Surgical Center or other licensed facility

 

Special Skills:

Knowledge of regulatory standards for Anesthesia, ambulatory surgical, or hospital outpatient settings, including clinical and business office workflow. Participation in AAAHC, JCAHO, OSHA, TDH, and CLIA surveys.

Experience with Anesthesia & ASC: Business Office activity; AR, Coding, Insurance verification, collections. Experience with design/construction processes, associated capital, and operating management of a new ASC, Hospital Perioperative Department, or renovation.

Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Robust data and analytical skills; ability to analyze case costs, evaluate contract performance, etc. Ability to work with various professionals across multiple locations to improve service and enhance revenue.
