Manages specialty pharmacy operations for designated site with a staff of at least one pharmacist reporting directly to them. The Manager, Specialty Pharmacy II, PIC is responsible for the broader implementation of KSC’s strategic and clinical goals regarding the expansion of Specialty Pharmacy services. Additional responsibilities include: achievement of customer service goals, clinical initiative objectives, financial objectives, and regulatory compliance including serving as pharmacist-in-charge; adherence to professional practices and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC) and Kelsey Specialty Pharmacy policies and procedures, and management of all assigned personnel including students.  Manages pharmacy personnel, provision of services, inventory, and overall profitability.  Performs all duties of a registered pharmacist including accurate dispensing and counseling of prescriptions to customers. Additionally, the Manager, Specialty Pharmacy II, PIC is charged with pursuing accreditation for the Specialty Pharmacy Program.

Salary Range: $142,695 – $169,556 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)




Required: BS or Pharm D College of Pharmacy

Preferred: N/A


Required: 3-5 years of specialty or retail pharmacy experience, current Pharmacist in Charge experience

Preferred: 0-2 years of experience as pharmacist-in-charge preferred

Demonstrable clinical expertise in areas such as oncology and/or neurology

HMO and 3rd party managed care experience


Required: Current Texas Pharmacy license

Preferred: BCLS

Pharmacy Preceptor Certification

Advanced Board Certification

Special Skills

Required: Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions

Preferred: N/A


Required: Communication – able to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, inform about policies, train, assist with performance appraisals, and approve refunds/expense/returns.  Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to serve as role model for excellent customer service.

Patient Counseling – Ability to engage with patients regarding their medications to educate and improve compliance with prescribe regimens

Stress Tolerance –able to make appropriate decisions and accurately process prescriptions in a high stress environment.
