Description (Basic Function): Upon the order of a qualified physician, the Mammography Technologist will utilize equipment which produces ionizing radiation to obtain images for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. The Mammography Technologist will perform Mammography and DEXA studies, in addition to general radiographic studies, fluoroscopic studies, ASC procedures, and/or SCNB procedures. The Mammography Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) and designated PACS system. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.���Qualifications: 1. Education A. High School diploma or GED. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program. B. Associates in Applied Science-Radiology Technology Experience A. 40 hours mammography training approved by the ARRT to meet the minimum initial FDA & TMB requirements for mammographers 2-years’ experience in mammography or 1-year KSC experience in. X-ray and/or SCNB experience. B. Mammography and SCNB experience Licenses A. ARRT (R)(M) MRT-General Certificate, BCLS certification. B. Special Skills A. Experience using Microsoft. Working knowledge of mammography quality assurance measures and accreditation requirements. PACS and RIS experience. B. Other A. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills B. Bilingual Essential Duties: 25% 1. Upon the order of a qualified physician, performs diagnostic and/or screening mammography and DEXA procedures, to include general radiographic studies, fluoroscopic studies, ASC procedures, and/or SCNB procedures if applicable, according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC radiology department. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of radiographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting proper positioning.
