Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor, the Financial Reviewer is primarily responsible for monitoring/analyzing assigned guarantor accounts and ensuring that appropriate resolution has occurred and takes action as necessary.  Knowledge of the medical field with emphasis on guarantor accounts and financial responsibility to maximize accurate self-pay and collection agency balances is required.  The Financial Reviewer may also be responsible for determining patient financial responsibility for planned surgical procedures and communicating this information to the patient/guarantor (includes any information that will be needed prior to or during the patient’s visit).

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $38,422 – $47,460 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

 

Qualifications

Education

Required: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program.

Preferred: 1 year college, successful completion of Medical Billing & Coding or Medical Office Specialist class.

Knowledge of insurance concepts and theory.

Experience

Required: Four years experience in health care billing and collection environment involving insurance verification, medical office collections, guarantor account follow-up/ business office functions OR two years similar experience with an Associate or higher degree.

Preferred: Five years experience in medical business office environment handling insurance verification with knowledge of wide range of products. Knowledge of healthcare business office functions (i.e. billing, collections, customer service, payment posting, etc.).  Kelsey-Seybold Business Office experience.

License(s)

Required: N/A

Preferred: Certified/Licensed Medical Billing

Special Skills

Required: Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits and patient accounts follow-up, Windows XP, PC skills, Internet

Preferred: Ability to train staff employees.  Good analytical and mathematical ability.  EPIC Experience

Other 

Required: Excellent interpersonal communications skills and strong written and verbal communication skills for staff and patient interaction.  Must demonstrate dependability and be able to work independently Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to be self directed and able to absorb new material quickly.  Basic knowledge of health insurance.

Preferred: Working knowledge of major third party payers.  Ability to handle a variety of tasks with speed with attention to detail and accuracy.
