Responsibilities
Derm Tech I
Dermatology Technician provides supportive patient care functions for Dermatology and other assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the Dermatology Technician by the physician or RN. This position will serve as the primary support for an assigned Dermatologist. The Technician requires additional duties which include demonstrating knowledge and scribing of medical terminology to assist in documentation during Dermatology office visits and/or procedures. The technician can be asked to scribe for physicians (history, physical, patient instructions, pending orders. In addition, the technician may also be asked to administer injectables and/or other high level skill performance: Perform phototherapy treatment/excimer laser treatment, Set-up/assist with procedures, sterile field, and/or cosmetic procedures, removal of sutures, Ipledge/isotretinoin patient education, registration in ipledge, apply patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis, sterilize instruments, and manage pathology log to make sure all results received and given to patients/treatments done.
Derm Tech II/III
Sr. Dermatology Technician provides supportive patient care functions for Dermatology and other assigned clinical area, under the supervision of a Physician, Registered Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational, and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the Sr. Dermatology Technician by the physician or RN. This position will serve as the primary support for an assigned Dermatologist. The Technician requires additional duties which include demonstrating knowledge and scribing of medical terminology to assist in documentation during Dermatology office visits and/or procedures. The technician can be asked to scribe for physicians (history, physical, patient instructions, pending orders. Salary Range: $ 38,422- $56,413 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)
Qualifications
Education
Required: High School diploma or GED from an accredited program and Gradate from an accredited Medical
Assistant program or school

Experience
Required:
Derm Tech I– This is an entry-level role. No experience required.
Derm Tech II– 3 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant.
OR
Successful completion of an externship at Kelsey-Seybold with 6 months experience for MAs or CMAs hired
prior to and active as of November 1, 2015, with no breaks of services.
Derm Tech III- 8 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant with Certification/Registration as a
Medical Assistant and Dermatology Medical Assistant Certification
Or
9 years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant with no Certification/Registration as a Medical
Assistant and Dermatology Medical Assistant Certification
Preferred: Ambulatory Care experience 1 year of experience related to department or specialty.

Derm Tech – N/A
Derm Tech II– Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant Dermatology Medical Assistant Certification
(within 6 months of hire).
Derm Tech III– N/A
Preferred: N/A
Special Skills
Required: Those hired into this position must complete the review/skill validation program within 90 days of
hire.
Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population.
Computer experience.
Basic Medical & Nursing terminology.
Preferred: Windows bases computer skills
EPIC experience
Other
Required: BLS Certification through American Red Cross.
Complete the department specific program modules for medical assistants.
Preferred: N/A
