Responsibilities:

Responsible for assisting the Retail Pharmacy Managers, of multiple locations, in the overall success of their respective locations. This includes achievement of customer service, clinical initiative objectives, financial objectives, and regulatory compliance: adherence to professional practices and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic (KSC) and Kelsey Pharmacy policies and procedures; and management of all assigned personnel including students. Manages new store openings, monitors pharmacy personnel including interviewing, hiring, and disciplinary action if necessary, provision of services, inventory, and over-all profitability of multiple locations. Responsible for at minimum quarterly review and report to Director of Pharmacy of controlled substance purchase and dispense records and investigation of any discrepancies. Manages key and alarm access to pharmacies and system access to pharmacy operating system. Plans and implements new processes and manages projects as directed. This position is the back-up to the Pharmacy Director during his/her absence. Upon need or request, performs staff duties, which are not limited to but include the accurate dispensing and counseling of prescriptions to customers and distribution of clinic use pharmaceuticals.

Qualifications

Education

Required:  Graduate of School of Pharmacy

Preferred:  N/A

Experience

Required: 

3-5 years of retail pharmacy experience
3 or more years of experience in pharmacy management.

Preferred: 

HMO and 3rd party managed care experience.
2 years of experience as Pharmacist in charge

License(s)

Required:  Current Texas Pharmacy license

Preferred:  

TSBP Preceptor Certification
BCLS
Immunization Certification

Special Skills

Required:  Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions and point of sale system.

Communication – Able to communicate with Pharmacy Department personnel to delegate duties, inform about policies, train, assist with performance appraisals, and approve refunds/expense/returns. Able to hold direct reports accountable. Able to communicate with customers to handle complaints and problems, assist with questions, and recommend products/recommendations.
Able to travel to multiple pharmacy locations.
Stress Tolerance – to accurately process prescriptions within the required amount of time.
Professional Appearance.

Preferred:  Write reports (i.e., weekly/monthly, accident/injury, expense, security), maintains logs, complete daily Pharmacy Department personnel worklists, prepare paperwork for bank deposits, complete requisitions, and complete the new hire paperwork.
Ability to problem solve and to present suggestions and solutions in a clear and concise manner.
